Shameless plugs don't happen too often on our blog, but we just HAD to show off the work of a great Etsian who just had her grand opening for LABELit, where you can get your custom designed labels for EVERY occasion. I use labels a lot on my packages, envelopes and gifts all the time, and just about went label-crazy for my wedding favors a couple of years ago, and let me just say, had LABELit been around back then, I would've saved a few sleepless nights of making my own! Many of you who read this may not be familiar with some of the more known Etsy.com sellers, we tend to be a close community, and if not close, we have all at least communicated in the etsy forums and chat. One of the first sellers to greet me my first time in the chatrooms of etsy was ChromaSmear. She was a Canadian artist, and digital art extraordinaire, and one of the nicest people on Etsy.

An avid animal lover, and supporter of pet rescues, her memory and legacy will live on for those of us who choose to act. SO, in her honor, I have decided to give 100% of the proceeds from all sales at my shop this week to Paws 4 You Rescue. One of my dearest friends who I've known since grade school has started her own blog showcasing her artistic talents, ideas, inspiration, and randomness. She's a wonderfully gifted artist, creating whimsical pieces with childlike innocence that makes each piece universal for adults and children. Read her bio on her website. No More Entrecarders!

If you do not know what Entrecard is, it is a system of credit that bloggers gain by visiting other blogs with the same widget and "dropping" a virtual business card. In my opinion, a very cool way of seeing blogs you would have never discovered on your own. Then, with credit gained each time you visit another blog, you can "purchase" adspace on a blog you feel is perfect for your niche, thus creating a great way for a targeted audience to see your blog.

Well, that is over...at least for me. I have decided to delete my account for a couple of reasons. Graham, Entrecard's founder, has decided over the course of a few months to move into a paid-ad system...with real money. In a nutshell, he needs to pay the bills. SO he's asking us to use our blog space and approve paid ads (most of the time, very innapropriate ads) that will show 50% of the time. He says you can still use the EC creds, and approving ads is not required. But when you offer ads at such low rates (.02-.03 cents was the introductory, now it has since doubled), most people were just purchasing ads and "cashing out" their EC points to buy money ads...Confused yet? Yeah, thought you would be.

So my argument (and that of many fellow ECers that feel the same way) is why would ANYONE bother in taking the time to drop on other blogs in the traditional way yo gain creds, if we can just go buy an ad with hard currency? Every since this new system started, droppers are at a standstill, and yet I was receiving about 10-20 pending paid ads that I had to individually reject, only because more than half were ridiculous and not relevant to my blog. So I have decided to stay away from a complex system that has no transparency. To all my ECer's, i'm sorry, and I hope you continue to visit my blog. In an effort of good faith towards my loyal EC droppers, I will allow you to send me your button, which I will display free-of-charge, as long as you allow me to display my button on yours :) It's an even, easy exchange!

My first outdoor sale display!

Yesterday, my sis (who owns flans by bea) and I shared a table at an outdoor garage sale for tenants of her condo. The day started slightly cloudy, and for a few moments we thought we might have to hurry all the stuff under a roof. But the clouds cleared, and we remained under a very pleasant shady Saturday afternoon. It was my first try at putting together a display that was attractive to many shoppers. It was a quiet and slow day. I did manage to sell a few sets and even a mini-tote. I did pass out plenty of postcards and business cards. It was good practice for the next time I do a craft fair (If I ever do!)
